Dynamics 365 Business Central 2023 - Release Wave 1

This release wave plan of Dynamics 365 Business Central covers all new functionalities scheduled for release between April 2023 and September 2023. Delivery timelines may change and projected functionality may not be released.

Business Central release wave 1 of 2023 offers several new features and improvements that will allow organisations to streamline operations, reduce complexity, and conform to regulations more effectively.

Highlights from the release include:

• Analysis Mode on list pages enables users to analyse and pivot data directly in the client.
• Item Tracking Lines direct on item journals allow for adjustments and opening balances to be entered with greater ease.
• Warehouse employees can ship and receive non-inventory items, such as insurance or cost, on sales or purchase orders along with the physical goods on the orders.
• Statistical Accounts allow you to improve analyses, by using additional statistical metrics in a separate ‘ledger style’ format to hold almost anything,  for example, employee headcounts.

In the 'General availability' column, the feature will be delivered within the month listed. The delivery date can be any day within that month. Released features show the full date, including the day of release.

Description of Enabled for column values:

• Users, automatically: These features include changes to the user experience and are enabled automatically.

• Admins, makers, marketers, or analysts, automatically: These features are meant to be used by administrators, makers, marketers, or business analysts and are enabled automatically.

• Users by admins, makers, or analysts: These features must be enabled or configured by the administrators, makers, or business analysts to be available for their users.
  
  

Adapt faster with Microsoft Power Platform

The 2023 release wave 1 improves Business Central integration with Power Platform to increase productivity.

Application

Application features are added to increase productivity, create better overviews, and enable compliant accounting and reporting.

Country and Regional

Microsoft have added more countries in 2023 release wave 1, so Business Central is available in more countries and regions globally.

Governance and Administration

See the new tools for Business Central admins and partners to manage environments and apps in the 2023 release wave 1.

Legislation

Business Central 2023 release wave 1 delivers a set of legislative capabilities to help organisations meet the regulations set by government agencies.

Productive with Microsoft 365

Further productivity improvements help users working with Business Central and Microsoft 365 apps and services such as Outlook, Excel, Word, OneDrive and Teams.

Reporting and Data Analysis

In 2023 release wave 1, end users and data analysts can now easily access all their data from Power BI without the need for a developer or consultant.

The 2023 release wave 1 brings improvements to our user experiences that will help users enter, update, and analyse data across Dynamics 365.
