Dynamics 365 Business Central 2023 - Release Wave 2

This release wave plan of Dynamics 365 Business Central outlines all new functionalities that are planned to release from October 2023 through March 2024. Delivery times may change and projected functionality may not be released.

Highlights from the release include:

• Search company data - this enables users to search across the whole Business Central database. For example, users can now find vendor ledger entries, invoices for different vendors and customers, all via the search bar in Business Central.
• Better link sharing - you can now share customer cards directly from Business Central onto Teams and other platforms so your colleagues can easily access Business Central records and information, including a visual representation of the card you're sharing.
• The influx of additions to warehousing and supply chain are too long to list here but there is a huge volume of functional changes that you can read about below

• Include only open entries on customer statements - we were delighted to see this addition from within our office, it caused a lot of excitement with our consultants!

In the 'General availability' column, the feature will be delivered within the month listed. The delivery date can be any day within that month. Released features show the full date, including the day of release.

Description of Enabled for column values:

• Users, automatically: These features include changes to the user experience and are enabled automatically.

• Admins, makers, marketers, or analysts, automatically: These features are meant to be used by administrators, makers, marketers, or business analysts and are enabled automatically.

• Users by admins, makers, or analysts: These features must be enabled or configured by the administrators, makers, or business analysts to be available for their users.
  
  

Adapt faster with Microsoft Power Platform

The 2023 release wave 2 is bringing Power Apps to Business Central to tap in to the many Power Apps connectors and give life to new business scenarios.

Application

Continued application improvements in multicompany features and in inventory and warehousing.

Copilot and AI innovation

This wave expands on our first Copilot capability, marketing text suggestions, boosting productivity for a broader set of SMB roles.

Country and Regional

Microsoft have added more countries in 2023 release wave 2, so Business Central is available in more countries and regions globally.

Development

Microsoft's focus is on making Business Central AL developers more productive, and empowering consultants, citizen developers, and users to do more while lowering the cost of changes.

Also, Microsoft are adding new tools and improving existing tools for administrators to manage environments, apps, and data migrations.

Legislation

Business Central 2023 release wave 2 delivers a set of legislative capabilities that can act as a foundation for more specific requirements in local versions.

Onboarding

Partners have more capabilities for improving their customers' onboarding experience with their solutions.

Productive with Microsoft 365

This wave 2 release focuses on security and reliability, especially when bringing your data to Excel.

Reporting and Data Analysis

End users and data analysts can now easily access an improved reporting and dashboard system that makes it easier to find and run the reports needed.

Service and Platform

Microsoft are continuing  to invest in the fundamentals of their service, with a focus on performance, stability, resource governance, security, and compliance.

User Experiences

The 2023 release wave 2 brings improvements to our user experiences that will help users enter, update, and, fix mistakes in their data.
