As avid animal lovers, The NAV People’s Charitable Trust thought it only right that we support a cause close to our hearts. We were pleased to raise enough funds for the Guide Dogs ‘Name a Puppy Scheme’, which meant we were able to sponsor a puppy through its journey to becoming a life-changing guide dog.
Helping millions of people in the UK
The Guide Dogs charity provides life-changing services to not only the 360,000 people in the UK who are registered blind or partially sighted, but also the two million people living with sight loss.
Soon after our guide dog puppy, Hope a cute little bundle of joy was born, her puppy walker Satch took the reins to get her ready for her life as a guide dog.
Hope visits TNP
When Hope was 10 months old, she came to the TNP office for a visit. To mark the occasion, we put on a huge bake and goodies sale, serving everything from Rocky Road to Guide Dog teddies. It was a great success and we were able to raise £354.36 for the charity. In addition to this, our customer KONG donated a huge bag of dog toys, which we were able to donate to the Guide Dog Training Centre.
Meeting Hope was an amazing experience, although excitable at first, you could see the foundations of her training. Being able to speak to her puppy walker helped us to understand the great work the guide dogs do. Satch, the puppy walker, has trained 8 guide dog pups to date and said it was the best ‘meet and greet’ he has done – it was an excellent day!
Hope is now 12 months old and is making good progress in training, although she can be a little mischievous. We’re looking forward to welcoming Hope in 6 months for her final visit before she becomes a fully-fledged guide dog.
